Fabiola Torres-Alzaga

(b. 1972, Mexico City)

Inspired by cinematic illusions and stage magic, the artworks of Fabiola Torres-Alzaga explore the nebulous space between nature of perception and deception. Working across drawing, photography, video, sculpture, and mixed-media installation, Torres-Alzaga’s works place particular emphasis on the perception/deception of an artwork, providing viewers the opportunity to experience both the mechanics of illusion and the illusion itself. Torres-Alzaga has had exhibitions with Museo Universitario del Chopo (Mexico City), Steve Turner Gallery (Los Angeles), Sala de Arte Publico Siqueiros (Mexico City)] . She holds degrees from La Esmeralda: Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado (ENPEG) and the Active School of Photography.
